When “The Walking Dead” returns for the second half of its ninth season early next year, the show won’t be time-jumping into the future again, showrunner Angela Kang tells EW in a sneak peek chat this week. Rather, the episode will pick up right where we were left off: in that foggy cemetery, with our heroes surrounded by the creepy Whisperers.
(And yes, Jesus is totally 100% dead.)
“It’s gonna be a direct pickup,” Kang told the site. “We’re gonna find out what happens to that group that was in the cemetery as they try to make their harrowing journey back home to bury Jesus.”
She added, “We’ll get to know more about [The Whisperers], and their brutal survival of the fittest philosophy and how that really plays out in horrifying ways.”
“The Walking Dead” returns to AMC for more Whisperers creepiness on February 10.
