Ruby Rose made her small screen debut as Batwoman during The CW’s “Arrowverse” event last month, and as we had been reporting, a spinoff solo series was always on the table as a potential for the future. Well, it looks like it’s happening, as THR reports that The CW has ordered up a pilot episode of a Ruby Rose-led “Batwoman” TV series!
In the spinoff series, “Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”
David Nutter (“Game of Thrones,” “Arrow,” “The Flash”) is on board to direct. Caroline Dries (“The Vampire Diaries”) is showrunner and writer, with Greg Berlanti exec producing.
