More Bad News for “The Walking Dead,” as Danai Gurira is Reportedly Leaving the Show

Published

on

It seems like all the major players are exiting “The Walking Dead” as the ratings decline, with THR reporting today that Black Panther star Danai Gurira, who of course plays Michonne on the AMC zombie series, will be following in the wake of Andrew “Rick Grimes” Lincoln and Lauren “Maggie” Cohan and leaving the series after Season 10.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Gurira, who officially joined the series in season three as iconic katana-wielding badass Michonne, has signed a deal to return for her final season of the zombie drama. Under her new deal, Gurira will return in a limited capacity — described as only a handful of episodes — that will be interspersed throughout season 10.”

This is another HUGE blow for the series, as Michonne had become the leading character after Rick was written out last year. Not good, to say the least. Not good at all.

The ninth season of “The Walking Dead,” meanwhile, returns for its second half this coming Sunday night, with the tenth season set to arrive on AMC in October 2019.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
