AMC is Currently “In Active Development” on a Third Series in “The Walking Dead” TV Universe
Scott Gimple is the man in charge of the extended “The Walking Dead” universe, which thus far includes the main series and spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead.” As we were told last year, a series of TV movies are currently in the works, and AMC has revealed this week that a third television series is also being developed.
“That is in active development,” Ed Carroll, chief operating officer, AMC Networks told The Wrap. “We’re not yet at a stage where we’ll be announcing its plans to premiere. But we have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series.”
Recently, the main series hit an all-time ratings low, but it looks like AMC hasn’t lost any faith in the franchise. After all, it still remains the top drama on cable right now.

Ralph Ineson and Corey Stoll Join ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Spinoff Series Starring Wyatt Russell
The small screen MonsterVerse is expanding with a “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” spinoff series centered on Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell), and Deadline brings us the latest casting news.
Corey Stoll (Imperfect Women, Billions), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), and Nyasha Hatendi (Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials, Casual) have signed on.
Pilou Asbæk (Salem’s Lot) and Millie Brady (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) also star.
Originally announced back in December, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” showrunner and “Monarch” executive producer Joby Harold will serve as showrunner on the untitled spinoff series.
The series will follow Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
Wyatt Russell told Collider earlier this year, “you’ve got absolutely no fucking clue what to expect. I think people are going to expect one thing and be like, ‘Holy shit, this is not what I expected.’ It’ll go deeper into Lee’s experience after he came up, and being sort of put on ice, in 1982, and then what happens after that, and why he’s needed and the mission he goes on.”
