After Three Seasons, Netflix Has Pulled the Plug On “Santa Clarita Diet”

Published

Sad news tonight, as we’ve learned that the third season of Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet, which debuted last month, will be the show’s last. Yes, Netflix has cancelled another series.

The world had never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix,” Netflix said in a statement. “To their endless credit, the incredible Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were totally game, with an uncanny knack for comedy that brought Sheila and Joel Hammond to vibrant life, even though one of them was undead. We’re grateful to Victor, Drew, and Timothy, along with fellow executive producers Tracy Katsky, Aaron Kaplan, Chris Miller and Ember Truesdell and the terrific cast, including Liv Hewson and Skyler Gisondo, and crew for three hilarious seasons for Netflix members to discover for years to come.”

Like our audience, we were all-in on Sheila and Joel. Their relationship, in the face of incredible adversity, was inspiring to write and to watch. Mostly, they were funny, which in a comedy is important. Working with Drew and Tim, along with the immensely talented Liv and Skyler, was a joy and a once in a lifetime experience,” Fresco and exec producer Tracy Katsky said in their own statement. “Netflix took at chance on this odd show and for that we will always be grateful. They were supportive, ever positive, and appreciative of our work. Until about noon today. Still, they were just one phone call away from being a perfect studio. Not bad. Everything ends. This was a thing. And so it ended. We’ll miss it but are proud of the work we did and will always appreciate the love and enthusiasm we felt from our audience. It if was up to them, Sheila and Joel would continue for another 10,000 years.”

“Santa Clarita Diet” premiered in 2017, centered on Sheila and Joel, married real estate agents in Santa Clarita, California. When Sheila died, their lives took a darkly comedic turn.

Chucky Season 4

Last night’s “Chucky” Season 3 finale closed some doors and opened several others, delivering a wildly satisfying final hour that we won’t spoil here for anyone who hasn’t been able to watch yet. On that note, the Season 3 finale is now streaming on Peacock… get on it!

The “Chucky” Season 3 finale ended with the lovable killer doll breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the fans, officially announcing that, well, he’s running for a fourth term!

In line with the season’s White House setting, Chucky’s bid for a fourth term was essentially Don Mancini’s fun way of saying he’d love to do a fourth season, but it sounds like “Chucky” fans are going to have to let their voices be heard if they share that same desire.

“Tonight, I am proud to officially announce my candidacy for a fourth consecutive term,” Chucky revealed in the final moments of last night’s season finale. “Donations to my campaign can be made directly to the number you now see on your screen. But, if you have any doubts at all, I ask you to please consider the many accomplishments of my hugely successful third term. Thank you, goodnight, and god bless each and every one of you. Except Devon.”

The number that flashed on the screen? 1-201-500-3347

Calling the number will deliver a short message from Chucky to your phone, wherein the horror icon asks you to show your support for Season 4 by sharing an included graphic (below).

From what we gather, “Chucky” hasn’t yet been officially renewed for a fourth season, but the creative team is hoping that enough fans will show up to make sure it does soon happen.

So call that number, share the graphic, and let’s bring Chucky back to television!
