Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” Revival Series is Coming in October; Full Details!

We have no idea what’s going on with Paramount’s Are You Afraid of the Dark? feature film, which recently lost writer Gary Dauberman and was bumped off the release schedule, but the good news is that Nickelodeon‘s small screen revival of the ’90s series is still happening.

Deadline reports today that the limited revival will be arriving in October!

The cast so far includes Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (Rim of the World), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl, The Worst Witch), Jeremy Taylor (It, Goosebumps 2:Haunted Halloween), Lyliana Wray (Top Gun: Maverick, Black-ish), and Rafael Casal (Blindspotting).

Written by BenDavid Grabinski (Skiptrace) and directed by Dean Israelite (Power Rangers movie, Project Almanac), the three-episode hourlong limited series introduces an entirely new Midnight Society, a group of kids who tell a terrifying tale about the Carnival of Doom… only to have the events of the story come to life.

Here’s hoping the new episodes do well enough to warrant more in the future!

“Passenger” Trailer Introduces Atmospheric Crime Mystery Series Debuting on BritBox This October

Passenger

His House and “Lovecraft Country” star Wunmi Mosaku finds herself an outsider in upcoming crime mystery series “Passenger” that’s heading to BritBox this October. A brand new teaser trailer unveiled today highlights an unsettling atmosphere in the not-so-quaint, snowy town that’s haunted by crime.

The upcoming six-part series hails from creator Andrew Buchan (“Broadchurch,” “Carnival Row”), marking the actor’s screenwriting debut.

The series “explores a close-knit community who are unwilling to face their fears of change, of outsiders and of the unknown. Set in the fictional small Northern town of Chadder Vale, Former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa (Wunmi Mosaku) investigates a series of strange and inexplicable crimes that have the townsfolk spinning on an axis. Riya arrived in decaying Chadder Vale five years ago and has since been searching for that ‘one big crime’, the challenge that will make her feel alive again. Then one night local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears.

“The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, apparently safe and sound. The townsfolk ask few questions and normal life resumes. But for Riya, a relative outsider to the Chadder Vale way of life, none of this sits right. As a series of strange happenings and increasingly shocking crimes start unfolding within the town, the residents resort to short-sighted theories and blame outside influences such as the fracking site and its manager Jim Bracknell (David Threlfall). As things become stranger, the people push back on Riya’s absurd notion that something is not right with this town. But what are they so afraid of?”

Barry Sloane (“Revenge”), David Threlfall (“Shameless”), and Rowan Robinson (A Haunting in Venice) also star in the atmospheric crime drama.

The series is executive produced by Lucy Dyke and Simon Maloney for Northern Sister, Jane Featherstone for Sister, Reemah Sakaan and Stephen Nye for BritBox International and commissioned for ITVX and ITV1 by ITV head of drama Polly Hill.

While the exact release date hasn’t been announced just yet, look for “Passenger” to arrive on BritBox this Halloween season. In the meantime, watch the new teaser below.
