Twelve terrifying tales of terror are headed our way in Shudder‘s upcoming “Creepshow” series, which brings the franchise created by George A. Romero and Stephen King back to life later this year. Speaking with EW this week, executive producer Greg Nicotero has shared the very first image from the series, from an episode titled “Lydia Lane’s Better Half.”
This particular episode was directed by Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S, V/H/S 2, XX, Body at Brighton Rock), based on a story written by Nicotero. It stars Tricia Helfer, pictured below.
“It’s a take on an old Mario Bava movie. I always loved Tricia. She plays a strong female executive who finds herself in this untenable supernatural situation that she can’t control,” Nicotero told the site.
The show’s cast also includes Adrienne Barbeau, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Davison, Giancarlo Esposito, Tobin Bell, David Arquette, Tricia Helfer and Dana Gould.
The six-episode season will feature twelve total segments based on stories by award-winning and acclaimed horror writers, including:
- “By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain” by Joe Hill (NOS4A2), adapted by Jason Ciaramella – Directed by Tom Savini
- “House of the Head” by Josh Malerman (Bird Box)
- “The Companion” by Joe Lansdale (The Bottoms)
- “The Man in the Suitcase” by Christopher Buehlman (The Lesser Dead)
- “All Hallows Eve” by Bruce Jones (The Hitchhiker)
- “Night of the Paw” by John Esposito (The Walking Dead: Webisodes)
- “Bad Wolf Down” by Rob Schrab (Monster House)
- Stephen King’s “Gray Matter” by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi – Directed by Greg Nicotero
Nicotero’s Oscar® and multiple Emmy® award-winning company, KNB EFX GROUP Inc., will be handling the series’s Creature and Make-Up Effects.
