The first episode of “Creepshow” is now streaming on Shudder, with new episodes premiering every Thursday right into Halloween night. The new series adapts a handful of existing short stories, including Stephen King’s Gray Matter in the premiere, but one thing you won’t find in the first season of “Creepshow” are any remakes of tales from the two Creepshow films.
It’s interesting to note, however, that Greg Nicotero had at one point wanted to use the Shudder series to tell the origin story of Fluffy from Creepshow segment The Crate!
“At one point, I was hoping to do a prequel to the Crate, where you see them on the Arctic expedition capturing Fluffy,” Nicotero revealed during a Reddit AMA chat last night.
He added, “But it’s a little more complicated than that regarding the rights to the stories.”
The Crate segment of the original Creepshow film was an adaptation of a short story written by Stephen King, centered on a deadly beast who’s been trapped in a crate since 1834.
Here’s hoping Nicotero’s prequel is a possibility for a potential second season of “Creepshow”!
