In addition to Aquaman 2 and a monster movie spinoff titled The Trench, the world of Aquaman is also being expanded upon with animated series “Aquaman: King of Atlantis.”
The three-part mini-series will be executive produced by Aquaman director James Wan, and it’s set to air on the WarnerMedia streaming platform HBO Max.
Mind you, this will be a kids/family series, but it’s interesting to note that “elder evils from beyond time” are listed in the official synopsis as being adversaries at some point.
And with Wan involved, it’s probably safe to expect a bit of scary material here!
“The series begins with Aquaman’s first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he’s got a LOT of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess. Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he’s the right man for the trident!”
Victor Courtright and Marly Halpern-Graser will serve as showrunners.
