Netflix’s “Resident Evil” Series Presumably in Limbo

Published

Constantin Film has quietly been developing a “Resident Evil” series for Netflix with reports alleging a June start was in the cards.

Now, with the coronavirus forcing a worldwide shutdown, it appears that “Resident Evil” is now in limbo, depending on how you read the following interview with Constantin’s Martin Moszkowicz.

“We had to shut down over 30 shows all together, mainly stuff done in Germany, and in Czech Republic and Romania,” Moszkowicz tells Deadline.

The pandemic has affected the company from top to bottom, worldwide.

“Our offices are pretty much closed with very, very few people working who are not necessary — so, accounting, basically,” he adds. “But we are shut down on a worldwide level.”

It’s not all bad news as the company has just completed Monster Hunter and will be delivering it this week for a release this fall.

Paul W.S. Anderson directs the adaptation of the Capcom video game franchise that reteams him with Resident Evil franchise star Milla Jovovich.

As of this writing, Screen Gems still plans to release it in theaters on September 4, 2020.
