As we learned earlier this week, The CW has picked up the one and only season of DC Universe’s James Wan-produced “Swamp Thing,” which was cancelled last year before the season even had a chance to air. Thankfully, at least, the full season did air.
Today we’ve learned that Season 1 of “Swamp Thing” is headed to The CW in Fall 2020. What if the show ends up finding a massive audience over at The CW, you ask?
“At the moment, it’s just the one season,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said during a call this week, responding to inquiries about the network potentially ordering up more episodes. “I do not know if it would come back. Obviously that would be a discussion for Warner Bros. and The CW. But at this time, Swamp Thing is just the episodes we have.”

Swamp Thing himself is played by Derek Mears (Predators, Friday the 13th).
“Swamp Thing” centers on CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed). When she returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
The series, based on the DC characters created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, is written by “Ash vs. Evil Dead” writer Mark Verheiden and IT co-writer Gary Dauberman.
