The marketing campaign for Netflix and “The Haunting of Hill House” mastermind Mike Flanagan‘s “The Haunting of Bly Manor” has officially kicked off this morning, with the streaming service debuting the first official poster art and announcing a Fall 2020 arrival.

And head over to Vanity Fair for some first-look images.

All we really know about Netflix’s “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the second season of the horror anthology series that began with “The Haunting of Hill House,” is that it’s set to adapt Henry James’ psychological gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw, but as it turns out, that’s not the only James-penned story “Bly Manor” will be bringing to the screen.

The thing I have access to, that no other adaptation of The Turn of to the Screw has, is the rest of Henry James’ ghost stories. I get to use all of them,” Flanagan told Games Radar.

He continued, “The Turn of the Screw is only one of a dozen stories that we’re telling.”

“All Henry James; all thematically linked. I think of Turn of the Screw as the backbone of this season – the through line that carries us from beginning to end. But we get to go off into The Jolly Corner and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes, and so many other of these wonderful ghost stories that people haven’t seen adapted before.”

Directors for “The Haunting of Bly Manor” include:

  • Yolanda Ramke & Ben Howling (Cargo)
  • Ciarán Foy (Citadel, Sinister 2Eli)
  • Liam Gavin (A Dark Song)
  • Axelle Carolyn (Tales of Halloween, “Grim Grinning Ghost”)

“The Haunting of Hill House” stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Victoria Pedretti and Henry Thomas will all be returning to play new characters in “Bly Manor.”

The cast also includes Catherine Parker (“The Haunting of Hill House”), T’Nia MillerRahul KohliAmelia EveBenjamin Ainsworth and Amelie Smith.

You know video game adaptations are hot when even Golden Axe is making the leap to the screen. And indeed it is, with Deadline reporting that the Sega Genesis video game franchise that debuted back in 1989 is getting an animated series at Comedy Central.

The voice cast for the animated series from CBS Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television and Original Film includes Matthew Rhys (The Americans)Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest), Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus) and Carl Tart (Grand Crew).

“Described as a hilarious and loving homage to Sega’s video game series, Golden Axe follows veteran warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib on their side.”

Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Joe Chandler (American Dad!) will co-write the first episode and executive produce the series, with Chandler serving as showrunner.

The original Golden Axe video game was released in 1989, followed by sequels in 1991, 1992 and 1993. The series got a modern day upgrade with Golden Axe: Beast Rider in 2008.
