AMC Bringing Back “Eli Roth’s History of Horror” for a Third Season
Eli Roth and his fellow horror filmmakers will continue diving into the horror genre with an upcoming third season of “Eli Roth’s History of Horror,” AMC announced this morning.
Six more hour-long episodes are coming later this year.
The series has brought together masters of horror – the storytellers and the stars who define the genre, including Stephen King, Jordan Peele and Quentin Tarantino, among many others – to explore its biggest themes and reveal the inspirations and struggles behind its past and present.

Across six episodes, Eli Roth’s History of Horror Season 2 reached nearly 6 million viewers and more than 2 million adults 25-54 in Live+3 ratings. On Halloween night, Eli Roth’s History of Horror (Episode 204 – Witches) was the #3 series telecast on cable in standard prime among Adults 18-49 in Live+3 ratings. In addition to King, Peele and Tarantino, the second season featured guest stars Bill Hader, Megan Fox, Greg Nicotero, Edgar Wright, Rachel True, Elijah Wood, Alexandra Billings and Rob Zombie.
The upcoming third season will feature episodes entitled “Sinister Psychics,” “Infections,” “Mad Scientists,” “Apocalyptic Horror,” “Sequels That Don’t Suck” and “Holiday Horror,” each of which will take viewers on a chilling exploration of how horror has evolved through the eras and impacted society and its biggest fears through key horror subgenres.
A lonely Carrie White seeks friendship and answers in the first teaser for Carrie, a brand new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic story from horror master Mike Flanagan.
Along with the new teaser comes the announcement that the eight-episode limited series premieres on Prime Video on October 7.
The series follows misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), who has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.
Carrie is written and executive produced by showrunner Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) with Flanagan also directing four episodes.
Stephen King also serves as executive producer.
Also starring in the series are Siena Agudong as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, Thalia Dudek as Emaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle.
Each of the show’s episodes will apparently open with the introduction of “a different, unique story of a different woman, somewhere else in the world and in time, coming to terms with their own abilities.” Flanagan teased, “Carrie’s specific place among that group of women is part of the real joy that we get to discover over the course of the season.”
Expect Flanagan to expand King’s story in unexpected ways, using a modern lens.
