“Dexter”: John Lithgow Will Be Back as the Trinity Killer in Showtime’s Revival
Michael C. Hall stars in Showtime‘s upcoming revival of “Dexter,” a continuation of the original series that will essentially allow Showtime to make up for the show’s original finale. Additionally, we’ve learned today that John Lithgow will also make his “Dexter” return.
Lithgow, who played Arthur Mitchell a.k.a. the “Trinity Killer” in the show’s fourth season, will “make a short but decisive appearance” in the new season, Deadline reports today.
Deadline’s report continues, explaining how the character could possibly be coming back to life: “Details are scant, but scribes on the Clyde Phillips showrun 10-episode limited series have concocted a pathway for the Trinity Killer to come back that works within the larger Dexter narrative, I’m told. To that end, Lithgow is expected to only film for about a day or so on the LA-set production. It is likely that his on-camera work will occur in the next week or so.”
Lithgow won an Emmy Award for his work on “Dexter” back in 2010.
Jamie Chung (“Lovecraft Country”) joins Hall in the revival, with the cast also including Clancy Brown, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah and Jack Alcott.
“Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami.”
Clyde Phillips is back as showrunner for the 10-episode revival, arriving in Fall 2021.
“Dexter” ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013.
