“Yellowjackets” Spinoffs? Creators Have “a Couple of Ideas”

Yellowjackets spinoff

The second season of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” will premiere on March 24, 2023 – with a third season already ordered – and it seems the potential for spinoffs is on the table.

Chatting with THR this week ahead of Season 2, “Yellowjackets” creators Ashley Lyle Bart Nickerson briefly touched upon the idea of potential spinoff projects.

Lyle explains, “We’re aware that it’s something they’re interested in, and we certainly aren’t closed off to the idea. It would have to make sense. We have a couple of ideas.”

Showtime is going all-in on their most successful franchises, recently ordering up a brand new “Dexter” spinoff, so we imagine Showtime is indeed hungry to get as much mileage out of “Yellowjackets” as they can. But for now, no spinoff projects are in the works.

Season 2 will return starting Friday, March 24 on streaming and on demand for all SHOWTIME subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”

In season two, two months have passed since Shauna gave Jackie the cold shoulder— to disastrous results. In the face of their deepening hunger and fear, the tension among our Yellowjackets has only grown worse. The harsh conditions of winter are intensifying by the day, and the psyches of our survivors are deteriorating just as fast. Threatened by the darkness of the wilderness— and the haunting memories of it in the present— our former state champs will be forced to make impossible decisions. As they confront the horrible truth of what survival entails, the real nightmare for each of them will be to figure out who they are— and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.

While you wait, check out an unsettling official poster below…

The first season of “Them” (now retroactively dubbed “Covenant”) debuted back in 2021, and among the fans of the horror series was none other than horror master Stephen King.

King tweeted back in 2021, “Amazon Prime Video: THEM, starting tomorrow. The first episode scared the hell out of me, and I’m hard to scare. Bonus: If you’ve never seen a bunch of extremely creepy white ladies in 50s dresses, here’s your chance.”

This second installment of the anthology series will consist of eight episodes and will premiere on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

“Them: The Scare” will once again be set in Los Angeles…

The story centers on LAPD Homicide Detective Dawn Reeve, who is assigned to a new case: the gruesome murder of a foster home mother that has left even the most hardened detectives shaken. Navigating a tumultuous time in Los Angeles, with a city on the razor’s edge of chaos, Dawn is determined to stop the killer.
