“Warrior Nun” – Cancelled Netflix Series Gets Resurrected with Movie Trilogy
One month after the second season of “Warrior Nun” debuted on Netflix last year, the streaming service opted not to renew the series for a third. In June, series creator and showrunner Simon Barry announced a resurrection thanks to passionate fan fervor and demands. Today it was announced that “Warrior Nun” will continue in movie trilogy form.
THR reports that executive producer Dean English confirmed the “Warrior Nun” movie trilogy via YouTube. English stated, “I am very happy to announce that Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”
That’s an impressive resurrection!

In the series, “Inspired by the manga novels, Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old woman (Alba Baptista) who wakes up in a morgue with a new lease on life and a divine artifact embedded in her back. She discovers she is now part of an ancient order that has been tasked with fighting demons on Earth, and powerful forces representing both heaven and hell want to find and control her.”
In Season 2, “Ava and the Sister-Warriors of the OCS must find a way to defeat the angel, Adriel, as he attempts to build his following into the dominant religion on the planet.”
Season two premiered in November 2022 and spent three weeks in Netflix’s worldwide top 10 list for English-language TV series before Netflix announced cancellation in December 2022. Fans immediately mounted a concerted effort to revive the series, to great success.
Alba Baptista, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Lorena Andrea, Toya Turner and Olivia Delcán reprised their roles as the core group of demon-fighting Nuns.

“I’m the Grim Reaper” – Sam Raimi Teams with ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ Writers on Gory, Funny Webtoon Adaptation
The Wattpad/Webtoons and Grave Weaver-created series “I’m the Grim Reaper” is nearing its 200th episode, and it’s also getting a new TV series adaptation with talented names behind it. Deadline reports that celebrated filmmaker Sam Raimi is teaming up with 10 Cloverfield Lane scribes Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken on the new series.
The series follows “Scarlet, a young woman who wakes up in the ninth circle of hell with no idea how she got there. Satan offers to send Scarlet back to Earth if she’ll work as his reaper. But it doesn’t take long for Scarlet to realize that Satan’s offer is even worse than she feared.”
The story is said to fit perfectly into “Raimi’s wheelhouse, striking a deft balance between scares, gore and humor.”
Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi will executive produce the series with Weaver, who’ll also team on the development process. Raimi may be most known for his Spider-Man and Evil Dead movies, but the filmmaker has been busy behind the scenes producing. More recently, Raimi produced this week’s action brawler Boy Kills World and last year’s 65, with Don’t Move on the way.
The “I’m the Grim Reaper” webtoon launched in 2019, delving into the humor and horrors of reaping souls in Hell. That it’s on the cusp of airing its 200th episode means no shortage of story and mythology for Campbell and Stuecken to pull from.
