Prime Video brings the popular Fallout video games to the world of live action with their upcoming television series “Fallout,” which is set to premiere on April 12, 2024.

Vanity Fair gives us a first look at the upcoming series with an extensive preview piece this morning, which is packed with both insights and official images from the series.

The website details the series, “A nuclear war breaks out across Earth in the year 2077—an era of robots, hover cars, and a deep and abiding nostalgia for the America of the 1940s. After the incendiary mushroom clouds, the story flashes forward 219 years. How did humanity fair over those blighted two centuries? Lucy (played by Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell) has no clue. She has lived her entire life inside a subterranean vault, where every need and want has been satisfied while generations and generations await the day when it is safe to surface.”

“When a crisis forces Lucy to venture above on a rescue mission, she finds that the planet above remains a hellscape crawling with giant insects, voracious mutant animal abominations, and a human population of sunbaked miscreants,” Vanity Fair continues.

The “Fallout” TV series comes from Amazon Studios, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films, and Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks.

Jonathan Nolan will direct the show’s premiere episode. Showrunners for the series will be Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner.

Deadline had recently reported, “The world of Fallout is one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. The magic of the Fallout world is the harshness of the wasteland set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy.”

“Fallout” stars Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”), Xelia Mendes-JonesAaron MotenElla Purnell (“Yellowjackets”) and Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight).

Watch the Bloody ‘Scooby-Doo’ Sketch Starring Jake Gyllenhaal from ‘Saturday Night Live’

Published

Jake Gyllenhaal hosted “Saturday Night Live” last night and the show’s most memorable sketch saw Gyllenhaal playing an iconic pop culture character: Fred from “Scooby-Doo.”

It was titled “Scooby-Doo and the Mystery of the Shadow Phantom,” with Gyllenhaal starring alongside musical guest Sabrina Carpenter as well as “SNL” cast members Sarah Sherman, Mikey Day, and Andrew Dismukes. While it starts like a traditional “Scooby” adventure, with the gang unmasking a mystery, it soon turns into a rated “R” bloodbath.

After Fred reveals the Phantom to be Old Man Franklin, he takes things a step too far and literally rips Old Man Franklin’s face clean off. From there, the Mystery Inc. gang is dispatched in increasingly gruesome ways, while Scoob chows down on the Old Man’s face.

The gore effects are largely digital, but we’ll let it slide.
