‘Monster: The Ed Gein Story’ – Posters for Netflix Series Reference ‘Chain Saw Massacre’ & More
Real life monster Ed Gein inspired classic cinema villains including Norman Bates, Leatherface and Buffalo Bill, and Netflix calls to mind all three characters in the first wave of official posters for “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” the third season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series.
Charlie Hunnam (“Sons of Anarchy,” Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak) will be playing the role of Ed Gein in “Monster: The Ed Gein Story,” which will premiere on October 3, 2025.
Before The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Silence of the Lambs, and Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, there was Ed Gein. Check out the official posters from Netflix below.
Laurie Metcalf (“Roseanne,” Scream 2) will play Ed Gein’s mother Augusta, while Tom Hollander is Alfred Hitchcock and Olivia Williams plays Alma Reville, Hitchcock’s wife.
Hitchcock of course directed Psycho, whose main character was based on Ed Gein and his horrific crimes. It seems “Monster” Season 3 will explore Gein’s connection to Hollywood.
Known as “The Butcher of Plainfield,” Ed Gein was a grave robber and murderer who committed his monstrous crimes in the 1940s and the 1950s in Plainfield, Wisconsin.
Like the family in Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Gein turned human bones and skin into keepsakes and furniture, and even wore the skin of his victims.
Gein has been portrayed on screen a few times over the years, with 1974’s Deranged starring Roberts Blossom (Home Alone) as Ezra Cobb, a character directly based on Gein.
Steve Railsback and Kane Hodder have also played Ed Gein on screen.

‘Ghostbusters: Night Shift’ – Brand New Animated Series Comes to Netflix in 2027!
The Ghostbusters franchise returns to the world of animation with brand new Netflix series “Ghostbusters: Night Shift,” and the official logo has been revealed this weekend.
Expect “Ghostbusters: Night Shift” to clock in on Netflix in 2027!
Netflix previews, “Ghostbusters: Night Shift, a series from Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation based on the beloved Ghostbusters franchise, will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2027.
“The new series marks the next chapter in the franchise’s ghoul-catching legacy, bringing supernatural comedy and paranormal action back to animation.”
The upcoming animated series from Netflix will be executive produced by Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp, and Dan Aykroyd.
Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, director of the original Ghostbusters features, and Kenan co-wrote the franchise’s most recent installments, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire.
“This isn’t the first time the Ghostbusters universe has gone animated,” Netflix reminds in their press release today. “The 1980s and ’90s saw The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters take over the small screen. For now, you can rest assured: If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, a Ghostbuster will be on the job — even if it’s after hours.”
