Jon Bernthal is back as Frank Castle in the Disney+ special “The Punisher: One Last Kill,” and we’ve learned today that the punishing special will premiere on May 12, 2026.
Jon Bernthal debuted as gun-toting vigilante Frank Castle in the second season of Netflix’s “Daredevil” before starring in “The Punisher” spin-off series from 2017 to 2019. He also reprised his role for “Daredevil: Born Again” and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Expect the trailer very soon.
Reinaldo Marcus Green (We Own This City) directs from a script he wrote with Bernthal.
“It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story,” Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television, told EW. “Jon Bernthal is a generational actor. He’s incredible what he brings to all the roles he plays, but particularly Frank Castle. And he’s a great writer. He knows the character inside and out.”
“I love Punisher, but I love Jon’s Punisher in particular,” Winderbaum adds. “The idea that he’s in the MCU and can bring that to the greater universe, especially the more grounded street-level stuff, is a huge opportunity and, as a fan, the greatest thing ever.”
Jon Bernthal recently promised, “It’s going to be dark. It will not be Punisher-lite, I promise you that.”
“The Punisher: One Last Kill” will be the third Marvel Studios Special Presentation, following the horror special Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
