In addition to the live action series starring Henry Cavill, Variety reports that Prime Video is also developing an animated series set in the world of “Warhammer 40,000.”
Henry Cavill will executive produce the animated “Warhammer” series.
Variety details, “The animated project will serve as a spinoff of the animated anthology series Secret Level, which featured a Warhammer 40,000 episode when it debuted in late 2024.”
Dave Wilson co-creates and directs the series, being developed alongside John Orloff.
“Exact plot details are under wraps, aside from the fact the series will feature The Deathwatch, an elite group of Space Marines that specialize in hunting down alien threats,” the outlet notes.
“Secret Level wasn’t conceived simply as an anthology. It was designed as a launchpad for larger stories,” said Wilson. “The response to the Warhammer episode was extraordinary, particularly from fans who understood how much care went into getting the world right. This series gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and tell a much larger story.”
Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop are behind the animated project.
Warhammer 40,000 is set in the far future, where humanity stands at the edge of what might be its brightest future, or its darkest age.
The threats to humankind’s empire are many — traitors driven by the fires of ambition, alien empires sworn to reclaim the stars, and the corruption of reality by malevolent gods.
