The guy behind the ridiculously addictive Cookie Clicker browser game has released a new project called Orteil’s Game Idea Generator. It’s essentially video game themed Mad Libs, as it connects seemingly random nouns and situations, resulting in some surprisingly interesting ideas for video games. Because we’re all fans of horror here, I figured I’d dick around with it for awhile and see what horror games it could come up with.
The results were… intriguing.

First up, we have a robot brawler set on an island. I imagine this would play out like Dead Island, if you replaced the zombie hordes with a gaggle of angry robots.

I just realized there aren’t enough games (i.e. any) that let us experience the horrifying majesty of bears firsthand. Remember the cabin in Condemned 2? Now you’re the bear.

How does one “fondle” black holes? Also, gross.

Much like bears, the elderly is a demographic not often tackled by horror games. Could be interesting.

I’m not surprised that a cave man dating simulator would be scary as hell.
Those are just a few examples of the things this generator can come up with. If you like, we can turn this into a game. Head on over to the Game Idea Generator, find something amazing, and return to share it with the rest of us. The best idea gets all of my respect, and that’s priceless.
