We’re all psyched that Dante is coming back in Devil May Cry 5. Hell, we’re all psyched that we’re getting a new game! But even with that badass trailer from E3, we still don’t know much of what’s going on. Luck for us, Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno sat down with Inside Xbox to dish out some details on the game’s story, as well as show off some new gameplay.
For starters, the game is a direct sequel to Devil May Cry 4, taking place a few years after that game. Nero is now doing the demon-hunting thing, having been given the Devil May Cry sign by Dante. In lieu of his Devil Bringer from DMC4, Nero now has the Devil Breaker on his arm, which as we saw from the trailer, has a variety of uses.
Of course, we’re all wondering just when we can get a chance to play the game. Not to worry, as Itsuno also mentions that the game will have a playable demo at Gamescom in August. In conclusion, Itsuno states that he’s confident that his team have made a game that “will exceed even your expectations.” That’s quite the tall order, but given what we’ve seen so far, that’s not out of the realm of possibility. I still want to play as Dante, though.
Look for DMC5 to hit around March 2019.
