New ‘Dying Light 2’ First Look Video Includes Footage and Developer Interview

Published

on

Dead Island series creator Techland unveiled Dying Light 2 at E3 last month, the bold sequel to the best-selling open-world, post-apocalyptic phenomenon. The major selling point of the game is that it’s essentially a choose-your-own-adventure experience, with every choice you make completely changing the entire landscape of the world you’re playing in.

Another selling point? Techland has developed a brand new, in house technology as well as a fully new engine for the sequel, replacing their Chrome Engine with the new C Engine. A new video from Digital Foundry today digs into the new engine and the game in general, showing off footage while also coming equipped with insights from the game’s lead designer.

You’ll have to make hundreds of important decisions throughout the game, allowing you to carve out your own world. Each player’s game experience will be totally unique.

Dying Light 2 is headed to Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has two awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Kicking off on July 2 and running until July 29, the limited-time collaboration will introduce Monster Hunter–inspired elements into the post-apocalyptic world of Resident Evil Survival Unit, adding large-scale monster encounters to the game’s strategic systems.

Details on the collaboration are being kept under wraps for now, but during the event, players will be able to participate in collaboration-exclusive in-game events that will earn them special rewards inspired by the Monster Hunter series. We do get a brief teaser trailer for the upcoming event, which in addition to teasing various monsters for players to battle, also promises new units for players to recruit.

Set in a parallel world inspired by the Resident Evil universe, the game features an original storyline and real-time strategic gameplay designed for mobile platforms. Players will build bases, secure resources, and battle creatures in a collapsed city. Iconic characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine appear throughout the game, allowing for team formations that bring together characters from across the Resident Evil franchise, enabling unique combinations not seen in the original titles.
