In a case of “everyone’s doing it” (to varying success, mind you), Ninja Theory’s critically-acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be getting a VR Edition on Steam this Tuesday, July 31st, for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
This new version will be available at no cost for those who have already purchased the game. The new VR mode gives players the option of experiencing the game in a 3D space from a third-person perspective, as you’ll be controlling the camera using your head. Ninja Theory states that this mode was purely worked on as an experiment. But they felt that since players would get a kick out of it, they decided to give it to them.
Of course, the question for console gamers (namely PS4 owners) is, “Where’s the PSVR version?” Well unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. Ninja Theory elaborates on the reasoning behind this on Twitter, as well as in the developer diary below, saying that you’ll need quite the rig to take advantage of this VR mode. Besides a PC VR headset, Ninja Theory recommends a minimum of a GTX 1080 GPU.
I guess my laptop’s out of the running right off the bat.
