First Details of ‘We Happy Few’ Season Pass Revealed, Including a Free “Infinite Mode”!
Compulsion Games’ We Happy Few is being released in a few short days, and the developer is keeping the hype train going with the first details of the Season Pass!
In a post on Compulsion Games’ website, the devs have revealed three new story episodes for season pass owners, as well as a free sandbox survival mode described as a highly customisable “infinite mode”. You’ll be able to tweak a bunch of things such as adjusting the size of the world, how deadly it is, the amount of food available, more/less of the Wellies (aka those bobbies we keep seeing) before starting the game. Essentially, this brings the game back to its early days before development kicked into gear.
As for the three story episodes, the first is entitled “Roger & James in: They Came From Below!”, which sees the two characters “set off in search of adventure and love, only to uncover bizarre technology and a terrifying new threat”. The second episode, “Lightbearer”, puts you in the shoes of Nick Lightbearer, a “heartthrob, artist, and personal trainwreck”. Described as “Wellington Wells’ most celebrated rock star”, you’ll find out what truly makes him tick when he shows up on Uncle Jack’s late show. The last episode, “We All Fall Down”, doesn’t reveal who you’ll be playing as, but rather looks at the “cracks in [society’s] veneer.”
Currently, the Season Pass is only available as part of the Deluxe Edition of We Happy Few, but will be available for purchase separately upon launch. We Happy Few launches August 10th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
And speaking of Uncle Jack, PSVR users can download a free side-story, “Uncle Jack Live VR”. As guest producer for the namesake broadcaster and propagandist, you are tasked with picking the ‘right’ news stories for Jack as he encourages people to keep taking the mind-altering drug, Joy. All the while, you’ll be fighting an outbreak of Downers (i.e. normal people) at the broadcast center. There are multiple outcomes (including Jack cancelling his show), as well as an Archive Mode that lets you listen to other Uncle Jack episodes and clips of the We Happy Few soundtrack.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
