Aspyr Games (the publishers behind Layers of Fear and Observer) have tossed another hat into the horror VR ring with the debut trailer of their upcoming project set in 1953 called Torn, which according to Aspyr Games, takes inspiration from The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror.
Set for release this coming Tuesday, August 28th on Steam, PlayStation Network and the Oculus Store (you can also check out the official site), the game centres on a scientist known by the name of Dr. Lawrence Talbot, who has disappeared while being on the verge of making a breakthrough discovery in his research 64 years ago. The exact location of his home, laboratory and his work have remained a mystery. That is, until the player, video blogger Kathrine Patterson, accidentally stumbles upon Talbot’s home. It turns out that the doctor is still alive. He’s just no longer in this dimension.
It’s up to the player to reactivate the machines that bring Talbot’s mansion to life. Using Dr. Talbot’s gravity devices (and hearkening back to Half Life 2), players will be able to move and manipulate objects in their environment in order to solve the array of puzzles found in the game’s world. Along the way, you discover the not-so-pleasant truth of Talbot and this dimension he resides in called “The Parallel”.
