Mortal Kombat X will have some new competition with news that Flux Game Studio’s gory one-on-one fighter GUTS (which is currently available on Steam) will be headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Autumn.
In addition to the announcement, the game also received a hefty update that affects the graphics and gameplay. Specifically, the game has received an overhaul to its move system, with “rebalancing and streamlined controller input”. Now players that lose a limb can now use their remaining limbs for more powerful combos and moves, allowing them to have a chance at a comeback.
In addition, your GUTS moves can now target a specific limb, and each character now has two GUTS moves. Blocking is now easier to pull off, and for those turtlers, there’s a meter that drains as you block. If it depletes, you’re dizzied.
Lastly, there’s new lighting and graphic effects, as well as higher framerates and “a more streamlined gameplay experience with optimized integration of bullet time lead to a more fluid gaming experience”.
The Steam version of GUTS is available for $19.99.
