Overkill Announces Closed Beta For ‘The Walking Dead’ Next Month
We’ve been waiting on Overkill’s co-op take on The Walking Dead for a good long while, and just before the game hits PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 6th, Overkill announced during a streaming session that the game will have a closed beta next month for anyone who pre-ordered the game.
At the present time, a pre-order is the only way into the beta, which will launch on October 9. If you pre-order the standard edition of the game, you’ll get one invite. But, if you sprung for the deluxe edition of the game (which includes the base game, artbook, soundtrack and cosmetic skins for characters and items), you’ll get four invites.
In addition to the announcement, the devs also showed off a tons of gameplay in the stream, which you can watch below.
You can still pre-order the Deluxe Edition of the game on Steam, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One, if you so desire.
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
