Published

on

Yeah, DOOM Eternal is coming soon, but what about plain old DOOM? Those wanting a little something for their desk can thank Gaming Heads, as they have a little something for you in the form of a series of Cyberdemon Statues based on their appearance in the 2016 revival.

Currently up for pre-order for a second-quarter 2019 release, there will be three versions available &endash; a Regular Edition, an Exclusive Edition, and the Collective Edition. Standing over 19″ tall on a Hellscape-themed base, each edition will be priced at $699.99, with optional payment plans if you need them.

The Regular Edition Statue is your typical polystone resin statue, and is hand-painted by artisans “in exacting detail”. It’s limited to 1000 pieces worldwide. The Exclusive Edition is only available at GamingHeads.com, and is limited to 500 pieces worldwide. The Exclusive Edition features a light-up rocket launcher on its left arm, and a light-up Argent Accumulator on the right side of its chest.

Lastly, the Collective Edition Statue is only available at GamingHeads.com, and is limited to 50 pieces worldwide. The only difference between this and the Regular Edition statue is that the Collective Edition comes unpainted, so you can paint it to your own liking.

Head on over to Toyark for more pictures.

DOOM Eternal hits next year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
