Enter The Terrifying Depths in Latest ‘No Man’s Sky’ Update

Okay, so Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky wasn’t what everyone wanted it to be right off the bat. Admittedly, it was a classic case of promising the moon and delivering, well, not that. Since its 2016 release, the devs have done a lot of work to at least try to make up for the shortcomings. And in this newest update (and because it’s that season), players have been given an overhaul on underwater exploration called “The Abyss”.

The update, according to Hello Games’ Sean Murray, “re-imagines underwater gameplay focusing on some of the scarier elements of No Man’s Sky“. “The Abyss” introduces aquatic environments “with over five times more variety”, varied creature behaviors, and improved underwater visuals. This also includes “unique terrifying creatures can be encountered on the ocean floor,” as well as a new story, “The Dreams of the Deep”, that involves exploring underwater ruins in search of a freighter, whose crew became stranded in the depths of the ocean.

On top of all of that, the game now features submersibles to aid in your exploration, including over a dozen new base parts for your underwater bases. To read more on the update, you can check out Sean’s entry on PlayStation Blog.
