This morning (or afternoon, depending on where you are), developer Wired Productions sent out a cryptic tweet promising a reveal of something big at 1pm GMT. Well, that reveal turned out to be Close To The Sun, which is being developed by Storm In A Teacup.
Close to the Sun takes place at the end of an alternative 19th century on a mysterious ship complex created by Nikola Tesla for the sake of pursuing knowledge. In this reality, Tesla’s scientific breakthroughs have already had a major impact on the world. You play as Rose, a young journalist looking for your sister and, as you enter Tesla’s complex for the first time, you quickly realize that something’s not quite right…
Immediate shades of BioShock can be felt from the opening moments of the trailer, which is always a good thing. The unique aspect of the game has Rose nearly defenseless, and as a result, she has to rely on a mysterious partner found on the ship in order to not only navigate, but also survive. So, throwing in a bit of Amnesia: The Dark Descent? Also a good thing.
Expect Close to The Sun on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019.
