Massive Fan-Made Mod For ‘Dark Souls’ Includes Content Cut From Original Game

In spite of being hard as hell, the PC port of Dark Souls wasn’t really the best conversion. It was up to the modding community to come in and clean things up (notably the framerate and controls). One modder, Grimrukh, has been able to go one step further, and bring back some of the cut content that was buried within the game!

Dark Souls: Daughters of Ash is described as “a massive re-imagining and expansion” of the original Dark Souls game, on which Grimrukh has spent over two years working away to bring it to fruition. There are no new assets with the mod, as all of it was content that was buried during production. That cut content includes new bosses and enemies, new characters, new storylines, new weapons and items, expanded lore, and “plenty of new secrets”, all of which can’t be found during one playthrough!

Keep in mind that this is for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, and not the recently-released Dark Souls: Remastered version (although Grimrukh is working to bring the mod to the latter later this year). So if you were one of the people who managed to purchase the original Prepare to Die Edition before it was replaced by the remaster, this is for you.

Despite Grimrukh’s best efforts in playtesting, there are still some bugs to be found. It also contains no multiplayer support (including co-op), so you’ll have to stick to playing offline should you choose to grab this. It’s a small price to pay for the amount of content that’s available in this mod, so head on over and grab this one.

You can check out some of the modified content in the video below.
