At Chicago’s C2E2 event this past week, Netherrealm Studios revealed that Shang Tsung is the first DLC character for Mortal Kombat 11. Shang will not factor into the game’s main storyline, however. Instead, he’ll make an appearance in the game as the guardian of the Krypt, which is the first-person adventure that returns from Mortal Kombat X, where players can spend coins earned from matches on various bonuses.
A cool little thing about Shang Tsung in the game: He’s actually being voiced by actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who play Tsang in the 1995 adaptation of Mortal Kombat, directed by Paul WS Anderson. No word on if he’ll tell you who owns your soul (yet).
Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
