Bethesda Reveals ‘Wolfenstein: Youngblood’ July Release Date Alongside New Trailer

Published

[UPDATE] Bethesda has dropped a fresh trailer and a release date for Wolfenstein: Youngblood.

The game is out July 26, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

There’s a Deluxe edition, which comes with a buddy pass that lets a friend join in on co-op with you for no additional cost. It also features a few extra treats in the form of weapons, skins, and outfits.

[ORIGINAL STORY] While Bethesda more than likely will be giving up the goods with regards to Wolfenstein: Youngblood later this year at E3 (along with a potential release date), that’s not stopping them from teasing us about it. As is the case on their official Twitter page, which had this little nugget posted:

Yeah, it’s not exactly a revelation, but it does point to the fact that we’ll more than likely get a big reveal at E3 this June. After all, they’re known for putting little somethings in their teaser art for E3, with this year’s being no exception.

Youngblood was revealed at E3 2018, which showed off an 80s setting where BJ Blazkowicz’s twin daughters go on a mission to find their missing father in Paris, France. The game is focused on co-op play (hence the twins), and is currently set for release on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
