In case you’ve been asleep for the past week, Gearbox finally unveiled Borderlands 3 at PAX East 2019. And despite the fact that a release date wasn’t given at the announcement, Gearbox may have leaked it on their own.
In a now-deleted tweet from the official Borderlands Twitter account, a tweet stated that “Mayhem is Coming September 13.”, with the tweet also encouraging fans to pre-order Borderlands 3 to gain access to the Gold Weapons Skin pack.

Of course, given the date that this was sent (April 1st), some speculate that this was an April Fool’s Joke by Gearbox. However, it’s also reasonable to say that Gearbox accidentally sent the tweet prematurely, as more information about the post-apocalyptic shooter is expected later this week. Plus, they did delete it.
In addition to that, in another deleted tweet, Gearbox also leaked that the game could potentially be an Epic Games Store exclusive upon launch. This seems to be supported by a series of tweets by Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford regarding exclusives.
Whatever the case may be, Gearbox is expected to reveal more about the game on April 3rd.
