In spite of Devil May Cry 5 being a return to form for Capcom, there are still some fans that want to see the return of DmC: Devil May Cry and its version of Dante. Apparently, they aren’t the only ones.
According to a report by USGamer, Hideaki Itsuno, the director of multiple Devil May Cry titles, would love to see a return for DmC. On the condition, however, that Ninja Theory would develop it.
“On the dev side we certainly wanted to and thought we would work with Ninja Theory again to create a sequel to DmC, but that unfortunately didn’t get off the ground,” said Itsuno.
Capcom producer Matt Walker agrees, saying, “It wouldn’t be DmC without Ninja Theory.” He added, “We’d still love to see a sequel, but we think it absolutely has to be made by Ninja Theory–so much of the amazing style and substance in that game was only possible because they have such a knack for what’s cool.”
Complicating matters is the fact that Ninja Theory is now part of Microsoft, and were folded into the company’s Xbox Game Studios in 2018. So in order for Ninja Theory to even be a part of the project, Capcom would have to get Microsoft’s permission, or have DmC be an Xbox exclusive. Something that many fans wouldn’t want.
