Fans of the currently-dormant Destroy All Humans!, TimeSplitters, and Alone in the Dark series may have something to look forward to come E3. According to an e-mail sent to press booking appointments for the event, THQ Nordic has two unannounced titles for the event, with both pointing to the return of two celebrated franchises.
The first is a remake (which they can’t reveal the title of) but “it’s the long-awaited return of a galactically beloved game/franchise.” Sounds like it could potentially be the return of Crypto and the Destroy All Humans! franchise, which last showed up on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008 with Path of the Furon. There will be a demo at E3 of the game, those it’ll be footage only.
The second title is described as “a new vision of a beloved game/franchise.” Like the other title, there will be a non-playable demo at E3. This one could potentially be the return of the TimeSplitters series, which was last seen way back on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
The beloved franchise has been dormant for years, with a fourth entry that was originally planned back way back in in 2007, but never saw the light of day. A group of fans took it upon themselves to begin creation of a successor, a mod for CryEngine 3 called TimeSplitters Rewind, with that project still in development as of March 2019.
It could also be the return of the beleaguered Alone in the Dark series, which began way back on the PC in 1992. The most recent entry, 2015’s online-only Alone in the Dark: Illumination, was universally reviled and tanked hard. The entry before that, 2008’s Alone in the Dark, received mixed reviews, but was a financial success.
This is all speculation, since THQ Nordic has several licenses under its belt. Still, there’s a good chance that genre fans will be happy with THQ Nordic at E3.
