‘X-COM’ Spiritual Successor ‘Phoenix Point’ Delayed Until December

Snapshot Games’ turn-based strategy game Phoenix Point has been hit with a delay. In a recent forum post, the team announced that the game will not be hitting its September 3rd release date (which they had announced at this year’s E3), and will instead be looking to December 2019 for its release.

“While the development team is working hard, and Phoenix Point is shaping up really well, we now know we’re going to need more time to get it to meet our very high standards,” reads the post. “Therefore, because we know we have more work than we have time, we will be delaying the release of game from September 3, 2019 to December, 2019.”

All is not lost for those who backed the game, however. Those who backed the game will still be receiving the Backer Build 5 on the original launch date.

Phoenix Point will be available via the Epic Games Store and the Xbox Game Pass for PC, as well as the Xbox One.
