Skateboarding Meets Horror Meets The PS1 in ‘Orange County’

Published

on

How’s this for an idea: Instead of walking around in a PS1 retro-inspired horror game, why not skateboard in it? That’s exactly what you get in Orange County.

A product of the Haunted PS1 Summer Spooks game jam, Pastasfuture has made the first person game available on their itch.io site for free. The game has you skating around a procedurally-generated city in the dark. Visibility is crap (it’s the dark, of course), and you’ll have to contend with cars on the roads, as well as a campus security vehicle that’s constantly pursuing you. As the time passes, the traffic gets thicker as you try to maneuver and escape being tracked.

It’s very sort of mundane, but just the idea of trying to skate while avoiding traffic and your pursuer at night screams tension. Plus, you can play it in your internet browser for free!

Thanks to Alpha Beta Gamer for the heads up.
