Kojima: ‘Death Stranding’ Multiplayer Will be Akin to ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’

Kojima continues to throw more weirdness into Death Stranding ahead of its November release. In an interview conducted at Gamescom with French YouTuber Julien Chièze, Kojima stated that Death Stranding‘s multiplayer will allow players to be connected while they play, even though their playthroughs will all be different.

“The more you play the more you will notice that he isn’t the only one in this situation. At launch, there will probably be millions of people who will play and you will be connected to them using something.”

When asked just what that “something” would be, Kojima brought up Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. “Miles thinks he is the only Spider-Man, then different characters from different alternate dimensions also become Spider-Man and meet up,” Kojima said. “All of a sudden Miles is not alone! Of course, Death Stranding will be different but it’s a clue towards what the game is about.”

Of course, Kojima being Kojima, that’s all he would say on the matter. Regardless, it’s safe to say that there’s still a lot of the unexplained for Death Stranding that players themselves will have to discover. Death Stranding is due out later this fall on November 8.
