‘Pathlogic 2’ Sales Figures Disappointing, Devs Still Pushing Ahead With DLC

Published

on

Ice Pick Lodge’s Pathologic 2, despite garnering great reviews, hasn’t had the sales figures to back it up. As such, in an interview with Russian site DTF.ru, the devs admit that the poor sales have altered the studio’s plans for the game.

“Yes, it is [underperforming],” said studio head Nikolay Dybowski via translation. “And it will affect the further development in the most difficult way.” Dybowski states that the studio will have to downsize and reallocate personnel.

Dybowski says that they’ll probably have to create a mobile game in order to garner more funds. It would only be after that would Ice Pick Lodge be able to take on the promised scenarios for Pathologic 2. “[T]he studio simply will not have the technical ability to make them without money and people.”

Despite the unfortunate setbacks, the team are planning some small free* (the trailer doesn’t say what the asterisk means) DLC for the game. The Marble Nest shares a name with the standalone demo released some time ago, and promises another two hours of focused story, separate from the lengthy sandbox survival experience of the main game.

That being said, the game still needs the sales to justify further development. No word on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One ports for the time being. Hit up the game’s Steam page and snag a copy, if you’re so inclined.

New ‘Control Resonant’ Trailer Delves Into a Twisted Version of New York [Watch]

Remedy Entertainment followed up with the release date news earlier this week for Control Resonant with a brand-new Paranatural Manhattan trailer. Narrated by Emily Pope, who returns from the original game as the acting director of the Federal Bureau of Control, the new trailer reveals more of Control Resonant’s twisted version of the city of New York.

“In this latest trailer we are excited to show the variety and world building we have injected into Control Resonant. Our talented development team is bringing back some of the vibes from the original game, with the return of the Oldest House and Emily Pope narrating,” said Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of Control Resonant.

The trailer features an exclusive song “Manalan Mailla” performed by Finnish ethno-pop artist Vilma Jää. The track, which was composed specifically for Control Resonant, was written by Jää, Teemu Brunila, and Jurek.

“Manalan Mailla is inspired by the Ingrian ensemble runonlaulu tradition, with its heterophonic choral parts and lyrics based on alliteration and iteration,” said Vilma Jää. “I also included some herding calls in the song, as I just love to sing as high and as loud as possible whenever I get the chance. Working with the music-making superstars Teemu Brunila and Jurek was very inspiring and a huge honour. Together we created something very catchy while still respecting the folklore.”

Control Resonant arrives September 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are now open.
