New Fixes Bring Free DLC For ‘The Sinking City’
After a few delays, Frogwares’ The Sinking City has received a needed update to its console versions, which is live across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
“We’re very sorry for the delay on these patches,” explains Frogwares’ Serge Chervonnyi. “We’re not the biggest team so collecting as many instances of where the game’s performance was taking a hit to really understand the issues took much longer than expected.”
However, to make up for the delays, the team has offered up some free DLC in the form of two alternate costumes for main protagonist Reed. “We’re really sorry for the wait but hope the fixes plus the additional outfits can now let console players who were holding off on playing dive back into the game.”
All these enhancements plus additional PC-focused fixes will all be added to the PC version too, once testing on multiple hardware setups and configurations has finished. The new outfits can be found in the player wardrobe at the Devil’s Reef Hotel after completing the first quest.
Most notable improvements and enhancements include:
Performance:
- Improved overall performance. Players should see a more stable FPS rate when playing the game. Also addressed previously reported frequent FPS drops and stuttering.
- Additional improvements and optimizations based on post-launch feedback
Crowd behavior:
- Deployed various crowd-related fixes, improvements, and optimizations. Players should see a decrease in bugs and glitches linked to pedestrian behavior. In addition, passersby should no longer have spawn zones that are directly visible to the player.
Combat and gunplay:
- All weapons received new gunshot sound effects and visual effects
- Several weapons received new recoil animations
- Camera shake effect added to make shooting more realistic
- All NPC firearms have new sound effects

Get a Taste of the Action-Packed Terror in the Demo for FPS Shooter ‘BLIGHTEN’ [Trailer]
For those itching for some throwback first-person shooter action, Blight Software has just had a demo released for their upcoming FPS BLIGHTEN. The demo sees you and your squad selected to eliminate the last rebels in the eastern wastes, only to have your slaughtered, and you trapped in a decaying research facility. And you’re not alone.
You’ll explore every room of the facility for resources and weapons in an effort to stay alive. Luckily, you’ll have an extensive arsenal of various firearms at your disposal, from shotguns to assault rifles.
You’ll need them in order to take down the various blight-ridden mutated horrors throughout the mega structure. As one would expect, you’ll need to scrounge for parts and ammo, so make every shot count.
Similar to what players experienced in the early PlayStation classic Alien Trilogy, BLIGHTEN sports hand-drawn enemy sprites and animation in a 3D retro world, creating a unique and dynamic atmosphere while still scratching that throwback itch.
It’s all wrapped up in a dark narrative, where an unseen evil lurks in the shadows of the facility, shaping the horrors around you as you descend deeper into the facility. As you navigate this industrial nightmare, every Blightened creature slain is a grim reminder to what you’ve lost — and the things you’re fighting for.
Look for BLIGHTEN later this year on Steam.
