New GVMERS Doc Revisits The ‘Max Payne’ Series

The Max Payne franchise is one of those countless properties that sadly has gone by the wayside after a poor performance of its last game. Released in 2001 by Remedy Entertainment (the folks behind Control), the original Max Payne combined a neo-noir story about a man on a mission of revenge after his wife and infant were killed by thugs. That, and because The Matrix was a thing, the game introduced Bullet Time to the masses of gamers to complement its ballet of chaotic firefights.

And the less said about the film adaptation, the better.

YouTuber channel GVMERS are back once again with another documentary that takes a look at the rise and fall of the Max Payne series, which after Rockstar took hold of the reigns with Max Payne 3, has been without an entry since 2012. This is in despite of the game garnering numerous award nominations. However, the reality was that the game shipped just over 3 million units across the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Such is the way things are, sometimes.
