While we wait for the release of Bethesda’s DOOM Eternal in just a couple months, here’s a juicy little tease that should make you even hungrier for the return of the franchise.
Speaking with THR over the weekend, Eternal director Hugo Martin compared the game to Evil Dead II, Sam Raimi’s sequel that upped the gore, the laughs and the mayhem.
“[Evil Dead II] was a big touchstone for us,” Martin explained to the site. “When you look at something like that, there’s the perfect balance between gore and slapstick humor. It’s not really taking itself too seriously.”
“I think this our Evil Dead II,” he added.
Developed by id Software, DOOM Eternal is the direct sequel to DOOM (2016). As the DOOM Slayer, you return to find Earth has suffered a demonic invasion. Raze Hell and discover the Slayer’s origins and his enduring mission to rip and tear… until it is done.
