Say what you will about CliffyB, aka Cliff Bleszinski, but this bit of news from the Gears of War creator is another “what might have been” moment that potentially could have been awesome.
Bleszinski revealed recently on his Twitter that his company, the now-defunct Boss Key Productions, was in talks with Fox to do a new game based in the Alien universe starring Newt. The game would be “drawing heavily from the Dark Horse comics”.
Unfortunately, the plans for the project fell through when Disney bought 21st Century Fox.
Funfact: Before BKP shut down we were in talks to do a new game in the Aliens franchise with Fox.
Then Disney bought them and that got lost in the shuffle, darnit.

According to Bleszinski, players would take on the role of an adult Newt. Ripley would appear as a Cortana-like figure (from Halo), and instead of another Bishop android, we would have one named Casey. After Newt’s doll head, naturally.
This project could have been one of the post-Alien: Isolation games Fox was said to be working on last January. Ultimately, the talks obviously didn’t get far enough for actual production to begin, leaving us wondering again just when we’d get that Alien: Isolation follow-up.
