Sci-Fi Horror Mystery Title ‘ONTOS’ Pushed to 2027 [Trailer]

Published

on

We’ll have to wait longer for Frictional Games’ ONTOS. The Amnesia series developers have announced that the mystery thriller is being pushed to a 2027 release after previously being announced for release this year.

According to the post on X, the reasoning for the delay was due to ONTOS being the team’s “most ambitious game to date, both in terms of size and scale, and in the depth and layers of our story and gameplay.” As a result, the game is being pushed to the nebulous 2027 release date. The team will be sharing more updates about the game, including its world and characters, “soon”.

In ONTOS, players will become Aditi Amani, a resourceful engineer, as she explores the repurposed moon hotel Samsara in search of the truth around her estranged father. Samsara is a vast labyrinth built atop the ruins of a failed mining colony, and players will explore this open, interconnected environment in their quest for the truth. Every corner of Samsara tells a story, and every story has something hiding beneath the surface, waiting to be found…

Players will scavenge for helpful items, manipulate intricate machinery and face intense tests of morality as they encounter horrific Experiments throughout Samsara. There is no ‘one solution’ to the obstacles players will encounter in ONTOS. Players will need to use their wits and ingenuity to reach the narrative’s mysterious conclusions and face the consequences of their choices.

ONTOS is currently being developed for release on PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
