Soulslike ‘Mortal Shell’ to Have Beta Test Next Month; New Trailer Released

Published

on

Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry have given us more to chew on with the announcement of a PC closed beta test for their upcoming Soulslike Mortal Coil. During IGN’s Summer of Gaming 2020 live stream, the companies announced that the beta test will occur from July 3 to 10. On top of that, the devs released a new trailer for the game, as well as over 10 minutes of gameplay footage.

Here’s the breakdown: Players will be able to play with two shells and wield either the Hammer and Chisel or the Hallowed Sword to vanquish their enemies. Starting in Fallgrim, players will have to find their first shell and battle through enemies to find the Crypt of Martyrs, a twisted catacomb where some secrets are best left lost…

The devs will be releasing codes for the test via their social media channels, which you can keep tabs on via the game’s Discord channel. The Mortal Shell beta will only run on PC.

Mortal Shell is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in Q3 2020.

Capcom has kicked off their summer with a new Capcom Spotlight stream, which included a new five-minute “Game Overview” trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The trailer reveals a new foe that players will duel in the upcoming swordplay action game which launches on September 25 across PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series, the Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The footage provides a first look at Dohatsu-ten, a terrifyingly fast and bloodthirsty Genma. After carving its way into the mortal realm, this winged warrior from the depths of hell locks blades with protagonist Miyamoto Musashi in an intense boss battle.

And in case you missed it, pre-orders for Onimusha: Way of the Sword are available now, and include the “Sealed Curse” sword skin and “Lion Dog” charm as bonuses. You can also check out the demo on all platforms (save for the Switch 2).

Onimusha: Way of the Sword returns to a dark fantasy feudal Japan where samurai clash with the supernatural in cutting-edge combat. The game takes place in Kyoto during the early Edo period. In this time of relative peace for Japan, Malice has befallen the ancient city. Twisted into an eerie and unsettling place, Kyoto has been infested by the demonic Genma.
