New Campaign Added, Final Featurette For ‘Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars’ Released [Video]
Ahead of its release on August 28th, publisher Kalypso Media and developer Palindrome Interactive have announced that the ‘Moroia’ update for Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is now available to beta players. The update adds the third and final campaign to the Steam beta and Xbox Game Preview versions. On top of that, the devs have released the final featurette on the making of the game.
The featurette dives into the game’s story, details the inspiration for the narrative, and explores the history and the bloody war between the game’s three unique vampire clans. In other words, if you’re into lore and world-building, this is for you.
As for the Moroia update, the campaign follows the story of the mysterious Moroia clan, allowing players to “explore and do battle on the frozen plains of Esain while learning more about the clan’s bloody history.”
Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The results of Xbox’s layoffs last week have resulted in a metaphorical monkey’s paw effect of sorts surrounding Obsidian Entertainment. As a result of the layoffs, the studio has canceled multiple projects, and in turn has begun work on a new game in the Fallout series. However, there are conflicting reports that the sequel to last year’s Avowed, which was mandated to be one of the projects canceled, is still alive.
Initially reported by Bloomberg, Obsidian has laid off around a quarter of its employees as a result of the mandate by Xbox. At the same time, the studio’s new directive is a new title in the Fallout universe. This would be the second time Obsidian has developed a Fallout title, with the first obviously being 2010’s much-lauded Fallout: New Vegas.
As for the sequel to Avowed, Bloomberg reported that the project was canceled. However, designer and co-founder of Obsidian Entertainment Chris Avellone took to X in response to the news, stating that the team was still working on the project, and was waiting to re-pitch the game “when the dust settles“, as so much work had already been put into the project.
In fact, progress on the Avowed sequel was “going well”, and was expected to be announced within the next year.
As for the new Fallout title, this would be the first new entry in the series since 2018’s online title Fallout 76, which has reached over 23 million players. Fallout: New Vegas is currently available on Steam, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360.
