Kill Your Heroes in First Look at Rocksteady’s ‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’

Published

on

It’s been five years since developer Rocksteady completed its Batman: Arkham trilogy with Arkham Knight, and in that time, so many theories, rumors, and leaks have surfaced regarding its next project. Would it be another Batman game? A Superman game? Something not involving superheroes at all?

Well, recently, we finally discovered that it would be a Suicide Squad game titled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and today at DC FanDome, we got the first look at the game.

The title sums up what’s going down in the trailer. We see Metropolis overrun by Brainiac’s forces, and Amanda Waller has enlisted Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and King Shark to kill a Brainiac-controlled Justice League, highlighted by Superman showing up and lasering the face off an innocent. The trailer is a departure from the Arkham series. It’s got bright daylight, humor, and is set entirely in Metropolis.

Rocksteady confirmed that the game is set in the same universe as the Arkham series. You’ll be able to play on your own in a singleplayer or in 4-player co-op.

The game is some way off. It’s confirmed to release on PC and next-generation consoles in 2022.

For those visual novel fans who have devoured Slay The Princess after its recent major update, and are looking for more, can check out 2P Games and Universe Studio’s Japanese-style horror mystery visual novel, Other Side of Mist and Mountain. Available now on Steam with a 10% launch discount until April 11, the game transports you back to 2010, with you investigating the disappearance of your girlfriend five years earlier.

Other Side of Mist and Mountain centres on Shizuno Yokoyama, a young man who became a detective after the disappearance of his girlfriend Maha back in 2005. Maha had mysteriously vanished at a train station on her way to a flash mob organized by an occult forum. What’s even stranger is that the train station itself disappeared too.

Now specialized in investigating occult cases, Shizuno has never stopped searching for Maha. Suddenly some new cases bring clues that might get him closer to an answer — but as his investigation deepens, so does the web of mysteries.

Players will solve puzzles and investigate clues to advance through a story that blends elements of horror, mystery, deduction, and folk tales. Your choices matter, as depending on the decisions you make along the way, they will trigger different storylines. As you explore the world around you and engaging in dialogues with a variety of characters, you’ll need to pay attention to every little detail in each scene in order to solve the mystery of Maha’s disappearance.
