‘Dread X Collection 3’ Announced, Arriving in October

Published

on

Well, that was quick.

Not even a month after the release of Dread X Collection 2, DreadXP have announced the third edition of the indie collection. As with the previous entries, Dread X Collection 3 has a theme on which all of the entries will be based.

Whereas the Dread X Collection was based off of P.T. “to serve both as a proof of concept for the collection and for the games contained within”, and Collection 2 took an established genre and gave it a twist in “Lovecrafting”, Collection 3 will focus on a genre that’s “less officially established, but nonetheless an important subgenre of horror”: cute and spooky, aka spoopy.

“We all have that piece of formative horror that kindled the first flame of dark desires in our hearts,” explains DreadXP. “How many new horror fans sang their way into the fandom with A Nightmare Before Christmas? Or spent their first furtive nights tucked under the covers with a flashlight and a book by R. L. Stine?”

So, here’s the rundown for Dread X Collection 3, which is expected to hit Steam “mid-October”:

  • 12 new games based on the theme “Spoopy”
  • Save for Torple Dook, the collection will feature an all-new cast of rockstar indie devs
  • The collection will feature an interactive launcher created by Akuma Kira, the mind behind Lost in Vivo and Spooky’s House of Jumpscares

Furthermore, here are the games that have been announced for the collection itself:

  • Breogan Hackett – Bubbo: Adventure on Geralds Island
  • Blood Machine – Soul Waste
  • Bryce Bucher – Disparity of the Dead
  • Amon Twentysix – Bete Grise
  • Corpsepile – Submission
  • DIRIGO GAMES – REACTOR
  • Modus Interactive – EDEN: Garden of the Faultless
  • Basalt Tower – Matter OVER Mind
  • Moya Horror/Amos – Nice Screams at Funfair
  • Adam Pype & Viktor Kraus – SPOOKWARE @ The Video Store
  • Torple Dook – Chip’s Tips
  • Nate Berens – SATO WONDERLAND

No Steam page is available just yet, but that will obviously change soon.
